We are delighted to share that Harmeny recently benefited from the generous support of Frog Bikes, experts in high-quality children’s bikes. Through their Frog Bikes Partnership, we have been able to expand our fleet, adding more bikes and a wider range of sizes to suit children and young people of all ages.
A warm welcome for our new bikes
When the new bikes arrived, they generated great excitement. One of our young people, quickly claimed one as “his bike”, while many others have shown increased enthusiasm and engagement with cycling. To ensure every bike was safe and ready to use, each one was fully assembled and checked over by a Cy-Tech qualified mechanic before being added to our fleet.
”“We were genuinely inspired to see how deeply cycling is woven into life at Harmeny. It’s fantastic that the young people are not only gaining new riding skills but also learning lifelong maintenance skills from a qualified mechanic. The staff’s dedication was clear; they go above and beyond to meet every child’s needs, and it’s a privilege to support such a passionate and nurturing environment.”

We are truly grateful to Frog Bikes for their support, which is already helping our children and young people experience the joy of cycling.
Learning, play and everyday life
At Harmeny, we believe that not every lesson is learned inside a classroom. Our commitment to outdoor education gives children the chance to discover nature, develop new skills and grow in confidence while exploring the world around them. From building a den in the woods to learning how to maintain a bike, every experience is an opportunity to learn.
Beyond structured outdoor learning, cycling has become part of everyday life at Harmeny – a way for children to play, relax and connect with their surroundings. Looking ahead, we plan to help young people work towards cycling-related qualifications through a Skills Passport, assessing their ability and supporting them to progress step by step.
Building confidence on two wheels
Our extensive grounds provide the perfect setting for biking adventures, including a dedicated cycle track designed with accessibility in mind. With optional technical sections for more experienced riders and bypass routes for those still building their skills, the track allows all children to take part safely and confidently. Since hosting the Edinburgh Schools Mountain Bike Championship in May, we have seen first-hand how cycling helps our children grow in confidence and discover what they are capable of.
