Strengthening LGBTQIA+ inclusion at Harmeny

At Harmeny, we want everyone to feel welcomed, respected, and valued. As part of our wider commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), we are taking important new steps to strengthen LGBTQIA+inclusion across the organisation.

Strengthening LGBTQIA+

In April 2025 we set EDI outcomes for the next four years as part of our Public Sector Equality Duty, one of which is to work towards being recognised as a safe and supportive place to work for LGBTQIA+ Individuals.

To achieve this, we will work towards the LGBT Charter with LGBT Youth Scotland. The Charter provides organisations with a structured, evidence-based framework for improving LGBTQIA+ inclusion, ensuring that policies and everyday practice reflect genuine commitment rather than simply good intention.

This work will involve gathering feedback from staff about how we currently support LGBTQIA+ colleagues and young people, marking important awareness events throughout the year, and expanding the resources available to our teams.

Our progress will be supported by Harmeny’s newly formed EDI Group, which brings together staff from across the organisation to guide, shape and champion this work.

We look forward to sharing updates as we move through the Charter process and continue building an environment where everyone can be themselves and thrive.
