Over £3m raised for Learning for Life Appeal

We are now very close to our £3.1m target to fund our new secondary learning facilities, thanks to the response to our #JoinUsInJune campaign.

The last eight weeks have been a flurry of activity as our supporters have crawled through mud, climbed mountains and walked miles to raise funds for our Learning for Life Appeal as part of our JoinUsInJune campaign.

There’s also been a few, more sedentary, pursuits with some fantastic home baking at a coffee morning in Edinburgh raising over £3,000 alone!

Over £115,000 raised for #JoinUsInJune

Our original target to raise £100k in June was smashed thanks to everyone’s efforts, online donations and two generous grants from Trusts, resulting in over £115k being raised. This fundraising took us through the three million pound milestone and means that our final target of £3,152,711 is now in sight!

Construction of the Learning Hub is nearing completion

The build of the Learning Hub remains on track to complete in August and we are moving into the final build stage.

Landscaping work by Wardell Armstrong LLP is now underway and the Hub is a hive of activity as Thomas Johnstone Ltd and their suppliers are fitting out the interior.

It’s been amazing to watch the building take shape over the last ten months and we can’t wait to have the Learning Hub handed over in August so we can start moving in our furnishings and furniture.

Secondary learning to commence this October

Once handed over, we will have around six weeks to kit out the Hub and complete the fundraising for our furnishing and fittings before the young people start their learning after the October school holidays.

The fundraising continues…

We’ve got more fundraising activities coming up between now and October, with a team from TClarke and CEF taking on Ben Nevis, more amazing Harmeny Heroes taking on epic cycling and triathlon challenges, plus an abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge!

All their efforts will ensure the Learning Hub is equipped with everything needed to enable our young people to continue their learning through their teenage years and build vital skills for life and work.

It’s not too late to help rebuild lives and reshape futures. If you would like to get involved then you can find out more below.
