Residential Care
We provide high quality residential care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have capacity for up to 31 children and young people to stay at Harmeny on a residential basis, with a team of dedicated residential care staff that go the extra mile to ensure children and young people feel safe, loved, nurtured and respected.
Harmeny has five residential cottages, each of which are safe and comfortable spaces, set in the woodlands of the Harmeny grounds.
Our cottages are designed to be homes. Each one is decorated to a high standard, providing a care space for nurturing and growth. The cottages all have their own lounge, kitchen, dining area, play area, and bathrooms. Every child has their own individual bedroom. This is a space they can decorate, socialise in, and make their own. All of our cottages have a garden, with a trampoline and other play equipment.
The kitchens in each cottage are a hub of activity. Our care teams host baking and cooking sessions, and cottage homemakers prepare nutritious meals daily for adults and children. Mealtimes are a shared activity, with everyone in the cottage sitting down to eat together. This provides space and time to discuss the events of the day, ask each other questions, and build healthy relationships.
At Harmeny, we believe that learning even the smallest skill makes a difference to the lives of young people in the long term. Through the building of trusting relationships, opportunities that arise in the life space, and carefully planned rhythms and routines within our homely cottages, children gradually gain a sense of safety, belonging and worth, and build life skills for the future.

After school, on weekends, and during holidays, the children can relax and play in the cottages. We provide toys and games to suit all ages, as well as televisions with Netflix, DVDs, laptops, books, and arts and crafts materials. We promote links with the local community to ensure that children can extend their talents at clubs to suit their interests and further develop their resilience.
