Complaints Procedure and Duty of Candour
Harmeny values feedback on the quality our services in order to ensure that we continuously improve.
However, we recognise that we don’t always get it right, and so if you wish to make a complaint, we will take this very seriously, endeavouring to ensure that it is dealt with efficiently, thoroughly and respectfully. You can make a complaint using our online form. For information on how to make a complaint another way contact us on 0131 449 3938, or through [email protected].
You can download a copy of our Complaints Handling Procedure below, but please note that not all complaints will be covered by the Procedure, depending on their nature. We will keep you informed as to how we will handle your complaint. This procedure is only for external stakeholders or members of the public. Staff, children and young people should contact Admin to make a complaint: [email protected]
We also have a duty to be open and honest when something goes wrong. This is called ‘Duty of Candour’ and applies to issues with more serious outcomes. If that duty applies to you, we will inform you of this and follow our obligations. A copy of our most annual Duty of Candour report can also be downloaded, below.
Equality and Diversity
Harmeny is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where our community of staff and pupils can live, work and study free from discrimination, bullying or harassment, and use their talents and abilities to their full extent.
We strive to promote diversity and equality of opportunity in all our policies, practices and procedures and vigorously challenge unacceptable behaviour or conduct. The promotion of equality and diversity is the responsibility of all, in order to ensure a safe, welcoming and productive environment.
Every two years, Harmeny is required to publish a mainstreaming report as part of our responsibilities under the Public Sector Equality Duty. The report outlines the progress that we have made against our previously set equality objectives, and what we hope to achieve in the coming years. It also details our equal pay statement and information on our gender pay gap. Our 2021 report can be accessed via the link below.
Information Policies
Under Freedom of Information (FOI) law, Harmeny School is obliged to produce and maintain a ‘publication scheme’.
This means we are required to:
- Publish the classes of information we routinely make available
- Tell the public how to access the information and what it might cost
As a Scottish public authority, Harmeny School has adopted the Model Publication Scheme produced by the Scottish Information Commissioner.
Our Guide to Information and Charging for Information Policy can be downloaded, below.
Our Procedures for Handling Information Requests will also be available to download from this page soon.
