Harmeny’s 2024 summer roundup

With the autumn term around the corner, we are taking a look back over summer 2024 to see what our young people have been up to during their holidays.

Sports Day 2024

Families, carers and Harmeny adults came out in force to support the young people who proudly showed off their cottage banners and chants as they competed to be crowned the winners of Harmeny’s Sports Day 2024!
There were egg and spoon races, three-legged spelling challenges, plenty of splash-ball madness and lots and lots of excitement all around! The teamwork and support for one another came through.
No Harmeny Sports Day is complete without a fantastic barbecue… Thank you to everyone involved in making the day so brilliant.

Days Out

Throughout the summer holidays, there have been lots of trips out. They include outdoor adventures and activities like kayaking, or making sandcastles on the beach in Millport (with ice cream, of course!).

The bad weather will never get in the way of a good time and these special days make summer so memorable!

The Care Cup

The Who Cares? Scotland Care Cup was held in Glasgow this year, which saw the Harmeny football team compete against other teams in a tournament!
The tournament was a really excellent experience for the children involved. They worked brilliantly as a team, worked really hard as individuals and scored some good goals. They showed good sportsmanship at the end of each game by shaking hands with their opponents and applauding the winners of the tournament.

Relaxing and Routines

A big part of summer at Harmeny is having the space and time to relax and play. So many young people at Harmeny go to clubs like gymnastics, horse-riding or football and this is no different in the summer holidays! With the Olympics happening in Paris, there has been lots of enthusiasm from the children to try new sports and activities too.

One of the highlights for Harmeny’s young people is the Summer Disco, a chance to boogie on the dancefloor to the best songs with friends.

There were rollerskates, incredible dance moves, disco lights… and of course pizza!

What’s next?

We are now looking forward to welcoming everyone back for start of a new term. We are looking forward to fun and lots of learning in autumn!
