On Wednesday 15th January we welcomed Jenny Gilruth MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, to Harmeny. As one of the seven Grant Aided Special Schools in Scotland Jenny Gilruth was keen to see how we support young people who have had some of the most challenging starts in life to engage with their education and unlock their potential.
Whilst touring the school with Gavin Calder, Chief Executive, Karen Eastwood, Depute Head and Mandy Shiel, Head of Education, Jenny spoke with pupils and our Chair of Trustees, Jennifer Scott. Jenny also visited our secondary learning facilities, The Learning Hub, which opened in October 2023 following a £3.2million fundraising campaign.
